Graduale Nobili – Björk’s Blonde Back-up

Bjork-2

Björk in NYC with Graduale Nobili

Björk
The Hollywood Bowl, 6/11/2013

23rd Annual GLAAD Media Awards Presented By Ketel One And Wells Fargo - BackstageA Björk concert is always an extravaganza. Her multimedia event at the Bowl was no exception. Like Cherilyn Sarkisian La Piere Bono Allman, Björk Guðmundsdóttir (try saying that 3 times fast!) is a one name star. Though separated by generation and nationality, the two singers have a lot in common. Both are exotic beauties with a love of spectacle, aurally and visually. The Hollywood Bowl’s grand finale was complete with a pyrotechnic display.

Graduale NobilinonameI’ll leave it to others more qualified to analyze the show’s content in depth. To summarize, she sang songs old (“Hidden Place”) and new, backed by her two man orchestra of keyboard sampler and drums. But, it was the Icelandic all-female choir that threatened to steal the show. From Reykjavik, they’re Graduale Nobili (with a subgroup called Lyrika). All gorgeous. Flowing blonde hair shaken around in time. The taller ones could model for a living if the music thing doesn’t work out. But, it looks like it has. Keeping up with Björk vocally takes work but Graduale Nobili is up to the task.
